Daily Devotional 10 Days of Prayer (10/09/24) Day 7

Today is a bit of a challenging because Hurricane Milton makes its landfall.  People are either bunkering down or they are getting out of dodge.  Either way, it is going to be a long day.  After going through Hurricane Helene, there are people not only in Florida but also in Georgia as well as North Carolina that are still working to restore their homes, businesses, and their communities.  Despite all the turbulence that these storms have caused or will cause, God is still going to provide what we need.  One of the names of God is Jehovah-Jireh, which is Hebrew for “Our Provider.”

In today’s passage, the apostle Paul is writing to the church in Corinth by saying that God will meet our needs.  A lot of us have a lot of wants, but God provides us with our needs.  There is a huge difference between a need and a want.  There are times where we do not think about those needs provided by God because we are busy doing other things.  We need to understand that God knows what is best for us.  He has our best interest at heart.  He knows the plans (Jeremiah 29:11).  We can make many plans as we want, but His plans are far more higher than our own plans (Proverbs 19:21).  Not only that, but He will direct our steps (Proverbs 16:9).  In other words, He’s got you.  He’s got us.

Scripture

2 Corinthians 9:8 NLT- “And God will generously provide all you need.  Then you will always have everything you need and plenty to share with others.”

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to pay attention to what You’re revealing to us.  Continue to provide for us our needs rather than our wants.  You know what is best for us.  Help us to be true recipients of Your mercy, grace, forgiveness, and Your everlasting love.  Help us to put our full faith and full trust in You and You alone.  In Jesus name, amen.
