Daily Devotional from Pastor Mary – 9-03-20

Now, more than ever, we must remember that we temporarily reside in this world, but we are God’s permanent citizens of heaven (Phil 3:20). I know I have mentioned being a citizen of heaven in every devotion this week, and it’s because I believe God is calling us to do exactly what today’s eight verses say in Psalm 119. Think about the steps necessary to become a citizen of the United States. If one of those ten steps is slightly off your citizenship is denied. I can vividly remember my Mom becoming a citizen 12 years ago. We all wore red, white, and blue and we cried tears of joy. It was such a privilege to witness the moment she was sworn in as a citizen of the United States. If that day felt so amazing, I cannot begin to image the day when Jesus welcomes us into our permanent home in heaven! We need to be ready my friends. This temporal residence, the world, is a dark place right now. We can’t get caught up in the darkness and lies of this world, we must remember what Jesus said: “I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in the darkness.” – John 12:46 “No one who BELIEVES in me should stay in the darkness”, we believe and so our lives must be in alignment with Him as believers. We must radiate His Light and follow His Truth.

Psalm 119:33-40
He

33 Teach me your decrees, O Lord;
I will keep them to the end.
34 Give me understanding and I will obey your instructions;
I will put them into practice with all my heart.
35 Make me walk along the path of your commands,
for that is where my happiness is found.
36 Give me an eagerness for your laws
rather than a love for money!
37 Turn my eyes from worthless things,
and give me life through your word.
38 Reassure me of your promise,
made to those who fear you.
39 Help me abandon my shameful ways;
for your regulations are good.
40 I long to obey your commandments!
Renew my life with your goodness.

Prayer: Jesus, I long for the day to see You and to hear You say, “well done my good and faithful servant”. Please continue to teach and guide me, every day. Forgive me of my sins and help me to move forward in Your ways. Lord we continue to ask that you heal Pastor Mary. Remove the pain and allow her the physical strength to be able to come home this weekend. Thank you, again, for covering the Haley family and this spiritual family with Your supernatural peace, grace, and love. In Your Holy Name, Jesus. Amen.
