Daily Devotional 10 Days of Prayer (10/08/24) Day 6

I don’t know about some people, but I tend to get stressed out.  Perhaps one reason is because I am anticipating what is coming up or being unsure about any future plans.  Regardless, stress is not a good thing whatsoever.  No one likes to be stressed, but I know someone who can bring your stress down: God.  One of the many names of God is Jehovah-Shalom which is Hebrew for “God, Our Peace.”  What we need to do is to be in that place of peace.  How can we find peace when there are a million things I got to do?  In Psalm 46:10, David writes that we need to be still and know that He is God.  In other words, we need to be in that place of stillness so that we can acknowledge God and let Him do what only He can do.

In today’s passage, the apostle Paul is speaking to the church in Galatia about the idea that there are no labels.  What do I mean by labels?  I mean that when we are in the family of God, we do not need to be labeled as a certain denomination or ethnicity or religion or anything else of that nature.  Paul wrote to the church in Philippi saying that we are citizens of heaven (Philippians 3:20).  Because we are citizens of heaven, we are no longer labeled as part of a denomination but rather we are brothers and sisters in Christ.  In our passage today, Paul concludes by saying that we are all one in Christ Jesus.  In other words, we are one body when we are in Christ.  We need to understand that we may have our external differences, but we are part of the family of God.

Scripture

Galatians 3:28 NLT- “There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female.  For you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that I am in Your family.  Thank You for accepting us for who we are.  You say that we are valuable in Your eyes.  Help us to see that each and every day.  Continue to remind us about how important we are to You.  No matter what circumstances we are facing, help us to draw closer to You each and every day.  In Jesus name, amen.
