Proverbs 3:19-26 Good News Translation (GNT)
Do you spend time reading God’s Word and enjoying his presence each morning? Is it a priority that cannot be displaced? If everyday we will allow the Word to remind us of God’s infinite wisdom, greatness, power, and love for us, it will change how we view life and, therefore, how we process our feelings and circumstances. We will not allow negative situations or emotions to dictate our lives, because Almighty God already has that place in our thoughts and hearts; we have made him Lord. If the Lord, who loves you, created the earth by his wisdom, does fear or worry deserve your time or energy? When we know the Truth, we will not allow those fleeting or hiding negative occupants of fear or worry to displace our loyalty to our Primary Resident—Messiah. Why would we take our focus off from the Savior and Creator of all good things in order to entertain the unwelcome guests of fear and worry? Maybe the reason we struggle with life is because we are not spending time allowing God’s Word of wisdom to become the foundation of everything we think and believe.
In our reading this morning, the Psalmist reminds us to remain focused on Almighty God; it is wisdom. Christ is returning soon for those who call him Lord. Scripture teaches the Last Days will be difficult (1 Timothy 3:1). “People will faint from fear as they wait for what is coming over the whole earth, for the powers in space will be driven from their courses. Then the Son of Man will appear, coming in a cloud with great power and glory. When these things begin to happen, stand up and raise your heads, because your salvation is near” (Luke 21:26-28). Be ready for the Lord’s return. Read and obey the Word—make the Lord at home in your heart—so the Spirit of wisdom will rule your life.
Proverbs 3:19-26
19
The Lord created the earth by his wisdom;
by his knowledge he set the sky in place.
20
His wisdom caused the rivers to flow
and the clouds to give rain to the earth.
21 My child, hold on to your wisdom and insight. Never let them get away from you. 22 They will provide you with life—a pleasant and happy life. 23 You can go safely on your way and never even stumble. 24 You will not be afraid when you go to bed, and you will sleep soundly through the night. 25 You will not have to worry about sudden disasters, such as come on the wicked like a storm.
26 The Lord will keep you safe. He will not let you fall into a trap.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for reminding me about your wisdom, greatness, power, and love this morning. I can live this day in peace, because you are with me and no worry or fear has a place to reside as I remain obedient to your Word and abide in your love. You are the Lord of my temple home, so I kick any hiding presence of worry or fear out in Jesus’ name. Amen.
