Daily Reading 11-16-16
Ephesians 5:1-2 The Message (MSG)
Good morning! I want to thank you for your prayers. I am home from the hospital, but still need to rest. I have missed these devotional times, so I am going to try to post them each morning. I need my time with the Lord and so do you.
God calls his children to imitate him in how he loves. The world’s love is shallow and selective, but not God’s love. God may not love everything we do, but he always loves us and wants fellowship with us. We may not love everything others do, but we are still called to love them.
Our passage this morning is based on a letter from the Apostle Paul to the church at Ephesus. He reminds the family of God how to love.
Chapter 5:1-2 Watch what God does, and then you do it, like children who learn proper behavior from their parents. Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with him and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn’t love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for your love and care. Words cannot express how loved you make me feel. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
