Mark 11:12-14; 20-24 Contemporary English Version (CEV)
There are some spiritual principles of faith that are true and work in the positive realm of God, as well as in the negative realm of Satan; a universal spiritual principle of sowing and reaping. Therefore, we must choose our thoughts and words wisely. Jesus teaches agreement brings power; what we believe in our hearts and speak with our mouths without doubting will come to pass. It’s a connection of heart and mouth; a creative connection when our heart and mouth get into agreement.
Satan looks for agreement, as well. So, when Satan puts negative and unloving thoughts into our heads and we choose to be negative and spew negative words…then, we reap negative results that are contrary to what God has for us as his children. It’s one of the traps Satan uses to rob us. Meditate on the truth of God’s Word, so your thought life has direction and your mouths will follow.
Mark 11:12-14 Jesus Puts a Curse on a Fig Tree
12 When Jesus and his disciples left Bethany the next morning, he was hungry. 13 From a distance Jesus saw a fig tree covered with leaves, and he went to see if there were any figs on the tree. But there were not any, because it wasn’t the season for figs. 14 So Jesus said to the tree, “Never again will anyone eat fruit from this tree!” The disciples heard him say this.
Mark 11:20-24 A Lesson from the Fig Tree
20 As the disciples walked past the fig tree the next morning, they noticed that it was completely dried up, roots and all. 21 Peter remembered what Jesus had said to the tree. Then Peter said, “Teacher, look! The tree you put a curse on has dried up.”
22 Jesus told his disciples:
Have faith in God! 23 If you have faith in God and don’t doubt, you can tell this mountain to get up and jump into the sea, and it will. 24 Everything you ask for in prayer will be yours, if you only have faith.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for giving me your Word so I know the thoughts and plans you have for me. Holy Spirit, you bear witness to the truth so help me get my heart and mouth in agreement with you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
