Daily Devotional from Pastor Mary 12-01-21

Intro: While camping along the Myakka River last week, I noticed the daylight was quickly swallowed up by the darkness every evening about five-thirty. Because there were minimal lights surrounding our campsite, the darkness was intense and a bit unsettling. Therefore, while walking Gracie I carried a flashlight with me so I could see where to go. That light kept me from wandering off the path. Similarly, the Light [Wisdom] of God’s Word keeps me on the righteous path when darkness tries to enter my soul (Ps 119:105).

In our passage today, Moses reminds us we are living in the darkness of this world, but the Light of God’s love and presence within us helps to navigate our paths. Praise is due him! He created the orbs of light in the sky to bless us and give us light and hope in the darkness while we wait for his return. He gave us the ability to experience the Light of his Spirit to help us trust when we cannot see. Moses wants us to remember that life is short, so it is important to live our lives in the Wisdom of the Lord. May the favor of the Lord rest upon us, today, and Light our way!

Psalm 90:11-17 (TPT)
11
Lord, who fully knows the power [strength] of your passion
    and the intensity of your emotions?
12
Help us to remember that our days are numbered,
    and help us to interpret our lives correctly.
    Set your wisdom deeply in our hearts
    so that we may accept your correction [in order to gain a wise heart].
13
Return to us again, O God!
    How much longer will it take until you show us
    your abundant compassion?
14
Let the sunrise of your love end our dark night.
    Break through our clouded dawn again!
    Only you can satisfy our hearts,
    filling [satisfying] us with songs of joy to the end of our days.
15
We’ve been overwhelmed with grief [trouble, harm];
    come now and overwhelm us with gladness.
    Replace our years of trouble with decades of delight.
16
Let us see your miracles again, and let the rising generation
    see the glorious wonders [greatness] you’re famous for.
17
O Lord our God, let your sweet beauty [favor] rest upon us.
    Come work with us [establish the work for us], and then our works will endure;
    you will give us success in all we do.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for the Light of spiritual understanding that leads me to place my hope in you each day. Your salvation is real and always present. Blessed be your name! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
