Acts 20:7-12  New Living Translation (NLT)

Do you love going to church and listening to the Word of God being taught?  Are you spiritually hungry to the point that you can’t get enough of Christ’s teaching?  People in the early church were so eager to hear about the work of Christ, they would meet together around the clock in order to hear more of the Good News.   The Apostle Paul never tired of sharing about Christ.  As long as people would listen, he would preach.

Have you ever fallen asleep in church?  In our passage today, we read about a young man who was attending a church service on the third floor of a building. The service went on for hours and hours.  This young man fell asleep while sitting on the window ledge.  This Scripture gives new meaning to the phrase “falling out” in the Spirit!

Acts 20:7-12  Paul’s Final Visit to Troas

7 On the first day of the week, we gathered with the local believers to share in the Lord’s Supper.Paul was preaching to them, and since he was leaving the next day, he kept talking until midnight. 8 The upstairs room where we met was lighted with many flickering lamps. 9 As Paul spoke on and on, a young man named Eutychus, sitting on the windowsill, became very drowsy. Finally, he fell sound asleep and dropped three stories to his death below. 10 Paul went down, bent over him, and took him into his arms. “Don’t worry,” he said, “he’s alive!” 11 Then they all went back upstairs, shared in the Lord’s Supper,[b] and ate together. Paul continued talking to them until dawn, and then he left. 12 Meanwhile, the young man was taken home alive and well, and everyone was greatly relieved.

Prayer:  Lord, make me hungry for more and more of your Word.  Keep me hungry for more of your presence.  Be blessed by my desire to enjoy you.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
