Psalm 16 Good News Translation (GNT)

I truly love the life God has provided for me. It hasn’t been an easy road, but it’s my road, so I love it. I thank him all the time—like a constant prayer—because I know the Lord has revealed to me much about his heart in the midst of my simple life. I call these revelations the Lord has shared with me LIFE Lessons, because they are things God revealed to me about our relationship; our spiritual dance. When I have allowed the Lord to lead, we have danced to a heavenly symphony. When I have demanded to lead, I have danced to my own worldly tune.

I look back and the past tells me the Lord was with me; I was blessed. I think about today and the Lord’s presence with me; I am blessed. I place my hope in Christ and eagerly look toward tomorrow; I am sure I will be blessed, again. The Lord has been so faithful to love me—to bring to my life his highest and best—so I place great confidence in him for every tomorrow. Do you have confidence in God’s love for you? I hope so, because God wants only good things for you, too.

Psalm 16 A Prayer of Confidence

Protect me, O God; I trust in you for safety.

I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;

    all the good things I have come from you.”

How excellent are the Lord’s faithful people!

    My greatest pleasure is to be with them.

Those who rush to other gods

    bring many troubles on themselves.

I will not take part in their sacrifices;

    I will not worship their gods.

You, Lord, are all I have,

    and you give me all I need;

    my future is in your hands.

How wonderful are your gifts to me;

    how good they are!

I praise the Lord, because he guides me,

    and in the night my conscience warns me.

I am always aware of the Lord’s presence;

    he is near, and nothing can shake me.

And so I am thankful and glad,

    and I feel completely secure,

10

because you protect me from the power of death.

I have served you faithfully,

    and you will not abandon me to the world of the dead.

11

You will show me the path that leads to life;

    your presence fills me with joy

    and brings me pleasure forever.

Prayer: Lord, I am so thankful for your goodness; your guiding love and generous hand to bring me into spiritual abundance. I confidently place my future in your hands. Thank you for making me feel secure in your love each day. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
