Lenten Daily Devotional from Pastor Mary 3-7-20

Psalm 121:5-8 (NLT)
God Protects Us

The Lord himself watches over you!
The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade.

The sun will not harm you by day,
    nor the moon at night.

The Lord keeps you from all harm
    and watches over your life.

The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.

Pause in his presence

Lenten Reflection: God provides for us by being our protective shade; he overshadows our weakness and covers our spiritual immaturity. The Lord never promises a cushy life; he does promise a well-armed life, because he is all-powerful. We need God’s power to keep our souls from the dominion of sin. Notice, God’s promise to protect us is comprehensive: in our coming and our going…in everything and at all times.

Prayer: Lord, I want to stay in the shadow of the Almighty, so arm my life, set your angels around me, and protect my soul from sin. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
