Psalm 5:1-6 Good News Translation (GNT)

Since last night’s news I have been praying for our brothers and sisters in Christ-living in a small town in Texas-who have been violently attacked while worshiping the Lord. May God fill them with His presence, sustain them through this tragic time, and heal their hearts. My pray has been much like the words of David, “Lord hear my sighs.”

David prayed a prayer for protection. In spite of the persecution, he knew God would bring justice in time. I pray the same in Jesus’ name.

Psalm 5:1-6 (GNT)

A Prayer for Protection

1 Listen to my words, O Lord,

and hear my sighs.

2 Listen to my cry for help,

my God and king!

I pray to you, O Lord;

3 you hear my voice in the morning;

at sunrise I offer my prayer

and wait for your answer.

4 You are not a God who is pleased with wrongdoing;

you allow no evil in your presence.

5 You cannot stand the sight of the proud;

you hate all wicket people.

6 You destroy all liars

and despise violent, deceiful people.

Prayer: You know all hearts, Lord. Deal with those who seek to harm those who worship you. Let your love protect all your children like a shield. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
