Psalm 93 New Living Translation (NLT)

I have decided to spend more time this morning meditating on Psalm 93. God loves me and takes care of me; I am touched by His glory.  I believe it; yet, there is more here I need to understand.

The Lord is king! He is robed in majesty.

    Indeed, the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength.

The world stands firm

    and cannot be shaken.

Your throne, O Lord, has stood from time immemorial.

    You yourself are from the everlasting past.

The floods have risen up, O Lord.

    The floods have roared like thunder;

    the floods have lifted their pounding waves.

But mightier than the violent raging of the seas,

    mightier than the breakers on the shore—

    the Lord above is mightier than these!

Your royal laws cannot be changed.

    Your reign, O Lord, is holy forever and ever.

In the reading of this psalm (song), it reveals our created world enjoys stability even in the midst of chaos (raging seas), because the Lord is ruling.  The psalmist then shifts from singing about the Lord’s mighty power over creation and ends the song highlighting the Lord’s governance.  The Lord’s laws (testimonies) are stable like His ruling.  In other words, everything the Lord says will happen does in time.  He can be trusted completely; the Lord will never fail to fulfill His Word.  And what does the Lord promise to do?  I believe the answer is to make those who are willing a holy people (conformed to God’s image and devoted to His rule).  The Lord of lords and the King of kings who is above all created things, has promised to make me a holy blessing for His glory because He is ruling my life.  What comfort that brings me, today, to know that God will accomplish what I long for but cannot do for myself.

Prayer:  Thank You, Lord, for Your Word and promise to recreate me anew in Your image.  You are mighty to save me from a false image, because You alone are holy. Holy Spirit, please keep me devoted to Your rule in my life.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
