Luke 6:43-45 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
The Bible serves to teach us and the Spirit makes divine connections for us regarding the spiritual life. We know in this world we can find the presence of both good and evil. People are free to choose to share words and deeds of goodness or words and deeds of evil acts.
In our passage today, we notice the heart and the mouth are connected to spiritual production: it’s called fruit bearing. What comes out of our mouths is connected to what we have stored in our hearts. That is why it is so important to forgive and extend mercy to others, because if we hold onto unforgiveness and judgment in our hearts, it is just a matter of time before our mouths are going to speak evil and our hands reach to manifest it. Choose to be a tree of righteousness; allow righteousness to fill your heart and your mouth will speak the heart of God.
Luke 6:43-45 Only Good Trees Produce Good Fruit
43 “A good tree does not produce bad fruit. And a bad tree does not produce good fruit. 44 Every tree is known by the kind of fruit it produces. You won’t find figs on thorny weeds. And you can’t pick grapes from thornbushes! 45 Good people have good things saved in their hearts. That’s why they say good things. But those who are evil have hearts full of evil, and that’s why they say things that are evil. What people say with their mouths comes from what fills their hearts.
Prayer: Lord, help me to keep my heart filled with good things, so my words will glorify you and draw attention to your goodness. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
